Versatile, Mon Amour?

Standard

With permission from Lisa Vooght, of Flash Fiction,  who said this SO much better than I ever could:

It’s hard to turn down an award; someone has taken the time to read your blog, get to know you, and wishes to acknowledge your hard work. … I never want someone to feel overlooked or undervalued. If I follow a blog, it’s because something has captured my interest; as a rule, I don’t “auto-follow”.

So, to keep this short, I’m simply going to thank those lovely people who have given me an award and provide a link to their page. Feel free to accept the award, from me to you, and pass it on if you like. Or not. 🙂

As an additional note, I really am trying to keep my blog’s content primarily focused on short stories, flash fiction, poetry and the occasional personal post. So, thank you, but I would prefer a thoughtful comment to an award – your thoughts and feelings as a reader mean quite a lot to me, you know.

It’s why I write.

The Versatile Blogger award was given to me this week by TWO different bloggers: first by Nancy Rose of Quintessence Creations Blog and today by Mike Shippey of Habitual Victory.  I mentioned Nancy’s the day it came in, but did not follow through. It’s been a crazy week. Getting the second one, I figured: let me do this now while I have the time.  First: please go take a look at their blogs, roam around and hopefully you’ll find some good reading. Thank you to both Nancy and Mike.

Okay, rules and stuff…Anyone who accepts this is asked by the person selecting them to do three things:

1. Thank the person who gave you the award and link back to them in your post.  Did that doubly.

2. Share 7 things about yourself

3. Pass this Award along to 15 recently discovered blogs and let them know about it!

OK…seven things…and I’ve done this before, but I’ll post seven different things:

  1. Music is an integral part of my life. Must listen to it daily.
  2. I believe in UFOs. . I think it’s hubris to think we’re the only thing in an infinite space.
  3. The concept of Infinity scares me
  4. I believe there is more than one thing in life to live for.
  5. I drink Iced Coffee or Iced Tea year round.
  6. Albert Einstein is a role model of mine.
  7. I’m in a highly creative time in my life.

As to passing this on, how about I just turn you onto (possibly) new blogs? I feel a lot better about that; they can take the award, or not, as they see fit, with NO compunction to follow the rules above. I believe if you follow a blog, it’s because you have an affinity for the content, no matter what. I hope you’re here because you like my writing, not out of any obligation.  As always, comments are lovely, and I find it’s a deeper connection to my readers. Thank you all for putting up with this.

Many of the sites below are going to join us in the Rule of Three BlogFest: a writers challenge, creating four interconnecting stories set in the shared world Town of Renaissance. All the guidelines and prizes (yes, prizes!) are available if you click on the badge (below or on my sidebar).  I hope the creative writer inside of you will take up this challenge. It should prove to be fun.

  1. Wow, thank you so much! I am very honored to receive this award. It really means a lot as I just started my blog quite recently, about a month ago. I will work on my post and on the passing of the award 🙂 Thank you again!

  2. Stuart, Thanks for the mention and the award! My very first blog award. Wow! I promise *virtual right hand raised* to pass this along and give you a shout out on my blog…tomorrow. So much to do, so little time. I can’t wait until October and The Rule of Three. As for iced coffee and tea, I’m from the South, so iced tea year-round is a given. I’m allergic to coffee, so, um, no. My guidance on the whole infinity thing, don’t think about it. You can fry your brain cell fuses trying to grasp that one!

    • Barbara, you are most welcome. Yeah, I’ve already blown a few gaskets trying to wrap my head around the concept of infinity. It does not really fit into our ideas of place and existence. Where does this all belong? OY..already, my head hurts. 🙂

  3. Congratulations on the awards!

Though I don’t think we’ll be seeing aliens dropping in to visit anytime soon, it seems likely there’s other life in the universe. There are just so many places that could harbor it.

  4. Loved these tidbits about you, Stu! I’m hoping to ride your wave of creativity this year as I get busier with my freelance business. =) And I especially love how you say that you believe there’s more than one thing in life to live for. That’s what makes you so rich and multi-talented as a human being — because you’re open to all that you’re passionate about. I can only hope to be the same way. =) Hugs!
