Tears (by Roman Nager)

Standard

Tear

There are tears of joy
and tears of laughter.
Tears of dread
for the morning after.

There are tears of pain
and tears of fear.
Tears of mourning
for someone dear.
There are tears of woe
and tears of sorrow.
Fears of longing
for a better tomorrow.

There are tears of regret
and tears of passion.
But the more precious tears
are those of compassion.

My father, Roman Raymond Nager, wrote poems and stories.
Sadly, for whatever reason, he tore up many of them.
I was going through more papers of my parents, discarding most, saving some.
I found this poem of his today.
I remember reading it, years ago, when he shared it with me.
I thought I'd share it with you.

  1. Dear Stu, Very touching, and insightful poem, thanks for sending it to me. My father, too, wrote poetry, but he kept it and passed it on to the family. Maybe that I where we both got our inclination towards creativity. Well, your mother was an artist as well. It was late the other night, or early morning, when I found that post from years ago, and I reacted very strongly to it, though I meant it all. You are like a second brother to me, and one who perhaps understands me a little better.

Thanks again for sending this to me.

    Jill

    Be kind to one another.
