NIGHTMARES FROM AN UNBLEACHED SOUL

PARASOMNIA IN B MINOR

Shifting between stages
Such a peaceful act
The body is in a relaxed state
Yet the mind keeps going
At a stampeding rate

There are no screams allowed
Within this paralytic cloud
Your eyes are open
But you're frozen like stone

Its the in-between,
No rhyme. No care.
Eyes wide open can only stare
Nothing else can move a single lick
Fear crushes in, not going anywhere.

There are no screams allowed
Within this paralytic cloud
Your eyes are open
But you're frozen like stone

What you grope with during the day
Comes to mind at night to play

You want to run, you want to pray
The blood runs cold like every day

Where you running to in such a way?
You're going nowhere, so you stay.

Days and nights bleed into one
No idea if you're awake or gone

There are no screams happening
Within this paralytic cloud
Your eyes are open
But you're frozen like stone

MUSICIANS, or people who know musicians, hear my call
I would love to find someone to collaborate with. Not every one of the 26 Lyrical Poems are winners, and most will need some tweaking. I would just love to hear some, or all of these, put to music.

My theme for this year’s AtoZ Blog Challenge is Nightmare from an Unbleached Soul. 26 Lyrical Poems throughout April, using the letters of the alphabet as our daily jumping off point. If you want to find blogs that match your interests, check out the Master List.

Comments are always welcome. Why you do like the work, or don’t, helps me in honing what I love to do.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I like the idea of putting some of these pieces to music. I hope that works out for you.

As for this piece another hit. Slightly eerie but fascinating at the same time, that in-between state. Love the lines, “There are no screams allowed, Within this paralytic cloud.” I was actually thinking of “Hotel California” where it says “‘You can check-out any time you like But you can never leave!'”

    • Thanks, Shari. That has been my goal since I chose this theme. Everything I’ve written so far DOES have something nightmareish about it. Some very in your face, others much more subtle.
I haven’t thought about The Eagles, or that song, in a very long time.

Honored that you feel “this piece [is] another hit”
